Telegram users experienced a sudden disruption of t.me profile links late yesterday after the Montenegrin domain registrar applied a Server Hold status. The change affected external browser access while internal application routing remained functional.
The domain restriction was implemented overnight, immediately blocking direct web navigation to Telegram accounts and channels. According to community analyst Max Dovolyony, a Server Hold designation typically indicates temporary service suspension pending administrative review or regulatory compliance. External connections were severed while the Telegram client continued resolving addresses internally.
Workaround and User Impact
Users can currently restore external access by switching to the telegram.me domain, which remains active. The transition presents two operational challenges for account holders. First, locating previously distributed links across older publications and external platforms requires manual verification.
Second, immediate updates are not feasible for all users, particularly those managing large-scale distribution networks.
